Joe Callaghan Irish Cultural Memorial Fund will honor the recipients of its 2007 scholarship and grant awards for the study and promotion of Irish culture.
The Joe Callaghan Irish Cultural Memorial Fund's mission is to carry on the efforts of the late Joe Callaghan to ensure the continuation of the knowledge and enjoyment of Irish culture. These funds are available to anyone, regardless of age, ethnic background, or residence, for the study or promotion of the music, dance, history, drama, folklore, literature, traditions, food or dress of the Irish people
Past recipients of Scholarships & Grants include:
County Schuylkill Ceili Dance Group - grant to provide free Ceili dance lessons to the youth of Schuylkill County . (2001)
Miss Jordan E. Foster -scholarship towards her Master's Degree in Anglo-Irish Literature at Trinity College , University of Dublin , Ireland . (2001 $500 & 2002 $1,000)
Sean M. MacCready , a student at Notre Dame, received a $1,000 scholarship to study abroad at the College of History , Trinity College , University of Dublin , Ireland . (2002)
(2003) The following libraries each received a set of 12 children's books relating to Irish culture:
Dimmick Memorial Library; Orwigsburg Free Public Library; Pottsville Free Public Library; Shenandoah Free Public Library; Tamaqua Public Library; Tower-Porter Community Library
(2004) Brittany Naomi Evans and Courtney Ann Evans - Financial support to continue step dance lessons at McCune School of Irish Dancing
(2005) Heather DeBenedetto - Tuition for dance camp and step dance lessons at Gallagher School of Irish Dancing, Stroudsburg, PA
(2006) Karissa Quinn and Aubrey Quinn – Tuition for Irish Step Dance Lessons at McCune School of Irish Dance
