20th Annual IRISH WEEKEND July 27, 28 and 29. Irish Valley , Heckscherville, the Irish Capital of County Schuylkill, nestled in the heart of the rolling green hills of Northeastern PA.
The Valley is rich in history including the Molly Maguires, Ancient Order of Hibernians, St. John Neumann, and anthracite coal. You will want to take time to visit St. Kieran's Church. The stone church was built not only with funds raised by the Irish immigrants, but also physically by the residents who donated their time and labor. St. John Neumann dedicated the church in 1858. His visits are depicted in a tile mural in the rear of the church. There is also a stained glass window dedicated by Division 12 of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Be sure to visit the beautiful stone grotto carved out of the mountain rock at the side of the church. There is also an old cemetery on the church grounds.
Division 12 of the Ancient Order of Hibernians about 1896 erected the
Clover Fire Company building. The building has been occupied by the fire
company since 1938 and has recently been repaired and updated.
Stop at Castlegreen – another beautiful grotto and also a beautiful Celtic Cross.
The valley also features the heaviest Irish Flag!
